Why is it important to store and serve wine correctly?

home picFirstly, all wine will eventually go off.  To delay this you must store it at the correct temperature and humidity by using a wine fridge.  It doesn't matter if you have spent £10 on a bottle of wine or £10,000, you do not want to store it, only to find that when you come to drink it, it has gone off.  Storing it correctly will ensure that the wine will last longer.  This is true if you are storing it for personal consumption, or as an investment.  The right wine fridge will replicate the temperature and the humidity of a traditional wine cellar.

Secondly, the taste of wine changes significantly depending on its temperature.  As such, wine should be served accordingly using a cooler and then a chiller (see What's the difference between a wine fridge cooler or chiller?)  so that you enjoy the wine at the temperature intended by the vineyard where it was produced.  Regardless of whether you have spent a few pounds or thousands of pounds on a bottle of wine - to get your money's worth you must drink it at the correct temperature - serve it too cold and you can not taste the full flavour of the wine - serve it too hot and all you can taste is the alcohol.

This website is dedicated to wine fridges, chillers and coolers, and their accessories, that exist to help you in the correct storage and serving of your wine.  Wine fridges range from small counter top fridges that contain a small number of bottles, fridges intended to be integrated into your kitchen, through to large free standing fridges intended to store many bottles.

This site consists of the following four areas;
  1. Information: This area contains useful information regarding the storage of your wine, why wine fridges are different to the more common beer fridge, what the difference is between a wine fridge, a wine cooler and a wine chiller, and what features you might want to consider looking for when you buy a wine fridge,
  2. Fridges: Recommended fridges that are available from major retailers from across the UK such as Amazon, Comet , Currys and John Lewis are compared by price range, ensuring that you get the best possible fridge at the best possible price.
  3. Accessories: This section contains links to other products that may be of interest to the owner of a wine fridge, such as books about storing and serving wine, wine thermometers and wine coolers and chillers to help you serve your wine at the correct temperature.
  4. Discounts and Voucher Codes: Not only does this site showcase some of the best available wine fridges at the best possible prices - if there are any discount or voucher codes being offered by retailers we will tell you about them - meaning when you come to 'check out' you can save even more money.
